Jesus Exposes The Heart - Disciple Makers Series #13Sýnishorn
Blasphemy against the Spirit
Thoughts on the message
This is tied closely to the previous verses. The leaders were saying Jesus cast out demons because He is empowered by a demonic leader. Now Jesus makes some strong statements to them.
One, do not try and say you are on God’s side and treat Jesus as unnecessary. It is not possible.
Two, do not try and deal with a “strong man” [demonic] which controls an individual’s life—without help from someone powerful enough to break that bondage. That person is Jesus.
Three, do not call the Holy Spirit in Jesus a demonic spirit. Because You will never get to God. The Holy Spirit will always lead you to Jesus—and Jesus is the way to God. Jesus is the only way we can receive forgiveness.
Jesus is the perfect picture of the heart of God. His love, His power and authority, His mercy—but also His justice. Let the Holy Spirit open our eyes today to a greater understanding of Jesus.
Time to Pray
Father, You have given us the Holy Spirit not just to empower us to live our lives but to truly understand the heart of Jesus—and Your heart. Today, I want to hear Your Spirit’s voice so clearly. I want to hear, so I learn to know Your heart better. I will see it in Jesus and what He did. I want to see it in how Jesus responded and what He said. I will see—if Your Spirit opens my eyes and heart to Your word. So release that to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
