Reality Check

ỤBỌCHỊ 4 NKE 21

Paul tells the church to not be moved away from the hope of the Gospel that they have heard. The Gospel is the central message of the Bible. It is the saving truth that takes sinners and makes them into saints, children of God. If we get the Gospel wrong, we lose out on the message of salvation. So, the question is, “Do you know the Gospel?”

In today’s reading there are a number of passages that convey the Gospel message to us. All you have to do is read them and note (either make a note in the YouVersion app, or in a journal, or on your device) what the basic elements are of the Gospel. What truths does a Gospel message need to contain for it to be a Gospel message? How does it compare to how you’ve heard the Gospel message presented?

Once you’re done, speak to God about these truths of the Gospel that you’ve discovered.

Reality Check

The letter to the Church in Colossae was written by Paul as a REALITY CHECK on the things that are considered of greatest value for those following Jesus, the threats against them and how to live amidst the culture surrounding them. He investigates the vast ideas of Christ’s Supremacy, which is ultimate reality, all the way to the personal understanding of our new reality in Christ and fullness in Him.
