God and Me: Devotions from Time of GraceSampel
God and My Plans
What do you want from life? Which of your achievements gives you the most satisfaction to remember? What do your friends and family hear you dreaming about and longing for? What do your coworkers think you want as your most important goals?
Have you always known what kind of career you wanted? Are you a late bloomer? Did you finally find yourself in grad school? Did you have to go to work right out of high school? Did any of your initiatives crash and burn? Are you in the family business? Did your family provide absolutely no help? As you look ahead in your life, what's important to you? What do you want? What are your plans?
Wherever you plan to go, whatever you want to do, make sure that God is your partner. "Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground" (Psalm 143:8,10).
For illustrations that will stick in your mind, read the book of 2 Chronicles in the Bible. When the kings abandoned the Lord, everything they tried to build fell apart. When they sought the Lord and listened to him, there were no limits to what he would do for them.
