Build The House: A Call To Build The ChurchSampel
“Living Stones”
As we have followed the history of the church, we find that God ordained the idea of a community gathering to worship Him. What started out in a single tent became a single temple and eventually became a movement of people. The call to build the church was never intended to stay just a Jewish thing. It was meant to point to a Jesus thing.
There is nothing more beautiful and more enduring than the local church. What makes the church special isn’t the building it meets in, but rather the community of hope that Jesus is building. You are a part of what Jesus is building. Peter, the one Jesus commissioned to initiate the church, understood exactly what Jesus was building. He declared this about Jesus’ church:
"you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
We are the building blocks of the church today. Every facility that is built and every ministry that is created is simply a tool to reaching more people with the Gospel. Not only are we called to build the church, but we are called to BE the church. That means we share in building God’s House. This is not just in honoring God with our tithe and talents, but it’s a call to share our hope with friends, neighbors, classmates, and those around us.
The only thing that will last for all eternity will be the investment you are making in the church. The greatest treasure you will find is knowing that God is using you to impact someone else’s eternity! That’s what we are called to build.
Do you realize that you have a part in building the church?
How are you making a difference in your local church?
How can you serve, give, and sacrifice to help build God’s House?
