7 Days of Revival

HARI KE 2 DARI 7

You’ve made it to day two of our week of revival. Once you have returned to God, now you must make a conscious decision to release the past. The enemy may attempt to drag you backward, but God is calling you forward. Today is the day you give your past a proper burial and press onward to all God has for you.

A funeral gives people an opportunity to grieve what has been lost. I have had people tell me that when they die, they don’t want a funeral. I always respond with, “Well, that is great that you think that way, but the funeral isn't for you. You won’t actually be there.”

A funeral gives family and friends closure. We need closure from our past, as well.

All of us carry wounds from the past. The divorce of our parents, the abuse we suffered, the job we lost, the friend who betrayed us, and the list goes on.

What can we do about these scarring events? We mourn them. Then, we give them to God.

A moment of grief is necessary, but a lifetime of grief is destructive. You can’t move forward if you are always looking backward. Give your past a funeral and move on. When we let go of what was, we position ourselves to take hold of what will be.

God has an amazing future in store for you. You’ve made the most important decision to surrender your life to Christ. Now, give Him your past. Give Him all your frustrations, disappointments, hurts, losses, frustrations, and failures. Surrender them at the cross.

As you lay the past to rest, here is my challenge for you: Walk away with expectancy. Scripture tells us, “God is doing a new thing." We have no clue what the future holds, but we do know that God is in charge and has an incredible plan.

Prayer:

God, the wounds of my past are real. I also know your power is real to heal and transform. Today, I make a decision to give my past a funeral and to move on. I will no longer look backward, but desire to look forward in expectation of what you are about to do. Thank you for a fresh start as you revive my heart. Amen.
