Your Inner Life
There is a life that is so much better than the best life you can ever imagine. This life is the kind of life that only Jesus Christ can give you right now, not just later when you die. This life is available through faith in Jesus.
What kind of life is this anyway? When we speak of life, we may refer to two realities: one is visible while the other is invisible. The visible life is of course your outward life, for example, the things that you say, do, accomplish, achieve, accumulate, etc. It may be positive or it may be negative.
It’s easy to measure this kind of life because everyone (including you) can see it. You may be happy with it, especially if it looks successful, or you may feel miserable about it, especially if you see yourself failing. The other life is invisible. It's called the inner kind of life.
The Bible calls this life your “soul.” This life is what truly matters. Our outer life may pass away, but this life will last forever. This life is hidden from view, sometimes even from you, but it is never hidden from God. This life is always before God. If this life is lost or destroyed, you lose the very essence of life itself.
Outward success, no matter how attractive it might be, is nothing compared to the loss of your soul. Jesus came to give us real life, the God kind of life that is connected to Him, empowered by Him, and lived through Him for His glory. This is the only true life that really matters. It’s the only kind of life that lasts forever. Everything else will pass away. Pay attention to your inner life.
