Kira-kira jam empat pagi Yesus datang kepada mereka dengan berjalan di atas air. Mereka berteriak ketakutan, karena mereka menyangka Dia hantu. Tetapi segera Yesus menenangkan mereka dengan berkata, “Jangan takut! Ini Aku.” Kemudian Petrus berseru kepada-Nya, “Tuhan, jikalau benar Engkau, suruhlah saya datang kepada-Mu berjalan di atas air.” “Baik,” kata Yesus, “ke sinilah!” Petrus pun turun dari perahu dan berjalan di atas air ke arah Yesus.
