Sometimes being the best leader we can be means making decisions that aren’t always popular. There may be background information that isn’t well known, or a situation is so delicate that the details have had to be kept under wraps. When this happens, leadership can feel lonely, especially when the responsibility of difficult decisions rests on you alone.
Even though we know that making the best decision may not always be the easiest road, God calls us to always lead in a way that he guides. He provided us with His Son's best possible example of good leadership. When we look at the example of Jesus, we can see a leader who always looked for the best course of action and also a leader who looked to His Father in His hour of need.
Of course, there will still be times in our lives when the right decision doesn’t always bring about the peace we may want. But we can be comforted in the knowledge that the decision was made with integrity and with prayerful consideration.
When Jesus needed to call on His Father for guidance, He looked for a quiet, isolated spot to pray. Think of physical places in your life where you can go when you need time alone with God. Is there a room at work, an office door that you can close, or even a backyard at home where you can go when you need to come to the Lord in prayer?

Every day we see people use whatever power they have to either lift up or knock down, cause change or further self-interest, or do whatever it takes to get ahead. Jesus showed how to use power to treat others around us, even those with more power and authority who we may disagree with. No matter how much or little we have, we’re called to use our power for good.
