Is it the right time? 

The disciples knew all about the kingdom of Heaven—they were taught by the best teacher in history! Before His departure, they had one more question: “Then they gathered around Him and asked Him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’” (Acts 1:6, NIV) Jesus, is it the right time to restore the kingdom of Heaven on Earth? It sounds like a silly question, but it’s actually a brilliant one. 

Do you know why it’s such a great question? It’s because the disciples knew that God had prepared everything by the death and resurrection of the Son. The debt for sin had been paid by the sacrifice of the Lamb. “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John 1:29, NIV) It was natural for the disciples to think it was time for the great last moment to restore everything. The fall caused the destruction of the kingdom on Earth, and the Son would restore it all because He did it all. “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” (Romans 6:10, NKJV) 

But there was one last element to secure the restoration of it all: you and me. “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NIV)

God chose to empower you and me to help restore the kingdom on Earth through His followers, His body, with His power flowing through us. Hallelujah! 

It’s truly incredible that God chose you to fulfill His restoration of the kingdom of Heaven on Earth. He does it because you are a miracle.
