Easter: More than Roses

How do you show your heart to someone you love? A bunch of red roses? A candlelit dinner? Perhaps doing the dishes!

They’re beautiful gestures but they come fairly easy. When we think about how God showed His love for us, it was far more costly. God’s love was shown through Jesus when He healed the broken, and welcomed the unlovely. When He wept with those who grieved and believed in those who failed. He fed people who were hungry, washed the feet of those who would betray Him. His love was constant and without condition.

When Jesus allowed Roman soldiers to take Him and whip Him, He was saying; ‘I love you’. 

When 8-inch nails were plunged into His wrists, He was saying ‘I love you’. 

When He refused the temptation to call on myriads of angels to rescue Him, He was saying ‘I love you’

Greater love has no-one than this – that he lay down his life for his friend. God’s love for us is greater and far more costly than a bunch of red roses. No-one loves us as much as He does.
