Proverbs – Introduction To WisdomMinta
Christ, the Wisdom of God
Prepare yourself to adore Christ, the wisdom of God! This section of Proverbs 8 is one of the most luminous and glorious in the entire book. Here, Solomon himself, under the anointing of wisdom, goes back to the very beginning of time, to the creation of all things.
There, he sees the role of wisdom in the joyful act of creation. Speaking from an anointing of revealed knowledge, Solomon writes from a heavenly perspective, declaring “In the beginning I was there!” (v. 22, TPT)
We know from the opening verses of the gospel of John that Jesus Christ was present at the genesis of all things, and that through him everything was created. Christ, the wisdom of God, was the one through whom God the Father made all things. From the tiniest atom to the brightest star, Christ was involved in the creative process. He was the Word with which the Father spoke everything visible and invisible into being.
Christ’s part in all of this is mirrored in Solomon's words in Proverbs 8. “I was there dancing,” he cries (v. 24). Have you ever thought of the Trinity “dancing together” as they brought all things into existence? What a picture! Before everything was made—from the ocean depths, to the sculpted mountains—Christ performed the role of Master Artist, playfully fashioning the earth and the heavens with laughter and joy, finding his delight in the children of men (our first parents, Adam and Eve).
This is a breathtaking picture. Worship the dancing Messiah today and thank God for his divine creativity.
Proverbs 8 brings out a rarely celebrated aspect of Christ’s character—his creativity. Ask him today to increase in you that same playful and artistic sensibility that he exhibited at the genesis of all things. Express your longing as creatively as you can, maybe even by dancing.
