Proverbs – Introduction To Wisdom

A Long Life

The person who develops a passion for the Father’s wisdom is the person who lives a long and satisfying life. What are the hallmarks of the person who sets their heart on kingdom wisdom?

First of all, they welcome God’s discipline when they depart from God’s path. They understand that God is a loving Father, so they accept the correction of his heavenly wisdom when they need realigning to “the proper way to live” (v. 13, TPT).

Secondly, they revere heaven’s wisdom as more precious than gold, silver, and gemstones. Nothing compares to God’s wisdom, because it empowers and energizes a person, and gives them abundance and promotion like nothing else.

Thirdly, they understand that it was the Father’s wisdom that gave the blueprints for the creation of the universe. That being so, they know this same wisdom is more than capable of giving them the blueprints for their own lives.

When a son or a daughter of God begins to nurture this kind of respect for wisdom, a number of benefits accrue. They find that they are refreshed and healed. They sleep well. They live free from fear and anxiety. They have money in the bank, and they pay their bills and taxes on time! What’s not to like about the Father’s wisdom?

If there’s any realignment and correction needed in our lives, let’s welcome it.

“Wisdom extends to you long life in one hand, with wealth and promotion in the other” (v. 16). Compose a prayer expressing your longing for the benefits of God’s wisdom.
