What Is Sin?

JOU 5 SOU 12

“Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you” (Isaiah 59:2).

Sin disturbs man’s relationship with God.

Man was created in God’s image and to His glory. The Lord God was like a loving father to them. Even though man was not equal to God, the relationship was one of harmony and trust. But sin has damaged this relationship.

In Psalm 15:1-2, David sings,

“O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right”.

But the problem is that nobody does live blamelessly and righteously. None of us can come into God’s presence. He turns away from us when He sees our sinfulness and we hide in shame. We lack the peace and joy that one can only find in God.

In order to restore our relationship with God, we need to get rid of our sins. But we can’t do so ourselves. We are not able to change our heart. We need the help of Jesus Christ who is able to take our sins away and to cleanse us from guilt and shame.

The good news is that He is not just able to do so, but loves to reconcile us with God.

Do you long to have your relationship with the Lord God restored?
