What Is Sin?Egzanp
“Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!” (Psalm 51:2)
God wants to cleanse us from the guilt of sin.
God’s response to sin is righteous. Our sin leaves us guilty and He can’t just ignore it. But He is also very merciful. He wants to forgive us our sins and to make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
When we have wronged somebody, this deeply hurts our relationship. Imagine you have stolen something from a friend. When they find out and you pay them back, the problem is not solved yet. You both remember what happened. They don’t trust you anymore and you feel ashamed.
When people realize they have sinned against God, something similar happens. The relationship is damaged. But God wants to restore it. He wants to take away our sins and to “throw them into the deep sea” so He won’t remember them anymore. He wants to remove the stain of sin and make our hearts pure and white as snow.
If we just receive His gift of forgiveness, we don’t need to feel ashamed anymore. Sin is no longer separating us from God!
Do you long to be cleansed from your sin?
