Moving Forward When It’s Been a Long Time Egzanp

Prior to Jesus’ birth, Mary and Joseph were visited by angels in dreams and in-person. They were sought after by shepherds from the fields and wise men from distant lands who were told about the arrival of the Messiah. When Mary and Joseph encountered Simeon on the day of Jesus’ dedication, they were so stirred by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and what faith was evidently on his life. There was something about his speech that distinguished what was communicated. We all need Spirit-empowered speech. There is nothing like encountering the Spirit of God in a seemingly ordinary moment with a person who has clearly been in God’s presence. Simeon spoke about God’s goodness being poured out and with such confidence and fervor.  Simeon spoke with destiny in mind, Kingdom purpose, and of what was to come – with grace, truth and authority.  

Likewise, the Prophetess Anna, a widow in her older years, was a vulnerable woman from an unspectacular northern tribe.  We discover in Anna’s words of wisdom, that strength and encouragement can stream from the most unsuspected places. We can engage with and lean into the revelation that streams from those who may be seen to be unlikely vessels. Those obedient to God’s Spirit offer something transformative by God’s grace. God can use anyone and everyone to speak His promises. Never underestimate the potential held in Spirit-empowered speech.
