DAY 3: REVIVE OUR FAITH
Have you ever been in the position where you were desperate for a miracle? Where everything that you worked for or everything that you loved was on the line? Have you ever needed a breakthrough? And you needed it NOW?
In Mark chapter 2 we meet a man called Jairus in that exact position. This man came to Jesus with a desperate plea to heal his daughter. The picture of a man of high standing and esteem, bowing before Jesus in a posture of humility and worship, is a great example of revival faith.
Jesus and Jairus make their way toward the house were the dying girl lies. As Jesus continues to minister to people around him, a message is sent to Jairus that his daughter has died, and at that moment all hope is gone. It is moments like these that rock our faith, however Jesus’ response to our faith being tested is to have more faith.
As Jesus and Jairus arrive at the house, they are met with deep sorrow and mourning as the girl has passed away. Jesus addresses the crowd saying that she is not dead, but only asleep. As the crowd laugh at Him, Jesus does something that no one was ready for, He kicks them all out of the house!
The people weren’t kicked out because they were bad people, because they were sinners, or because Jesus couldn’t handle an audience. They were kicked out because of their lack of FAITH. These people had already come to terms with the reality of their loss, they had already decided that the situation was over. However, we know that God has the ability to ‘turn over’ what we think is already over.
As we look at this passage, may we never be the people that God has to kick out of the room. May we be people of faith, who are not afraid, but who believe that God is able to do MORE than we can imagine. The breeding ground for revival is FAITH. In fact, an environment of faith is exactly what God is looking for. A willing and believing people create a space where anything can happen. REVIVAL starts where FAITH grows. Our prayer is that we would create an atmosphere of faith where lives are changed, people are transformed, and dead things come to life.
QUESTIONS:
1. Are there areas in my life that I might have lost hope for God to work a miracle in?
2. What are some practical ways that I can stretch and grow my faith?
3. What are some things that I am believing God for this year?
