Until the Spirit ComesEgzanp
The Holy Spirit is Promised
“The true spirit of prayer is no other than God’s own Spirit dwelling in the hearts of the saints. And as this spirit comes from God, so doth it naturally tend to God in holy breathings and pantings. It naturally leads to God, to converse with him by prayer.” - Jonathan Edwards
The Holy Spirit always comes when we ask Him. The request is not a request we have to wonder whether it will be answered. It is a promised certainty. The waiting is not a denial of the Father’s provision or a teasing to induce our perfection. It is an opportunity to develop our trusting expectation, like a child anticipating Christmas.
Don’t dwell on your faults but on the Father’s delight to give you the Spirit.

Jesus ascended to heaven forty days after his resurrection. During that time He appeared to His followers, saying, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." Waiting can be difficult. Behind closed doors, praying and waiting for the gift of the Spirit… for ten days. God is up to something!
