God, the Pursuer
God is always the pursuer of the lost and rebellious. In the Garden of Eden, it was not Adam and Eve that sought God after their sinful act of rebellion; it was God who pursued them. So it is throughout human history. God is always the pursuer, the seeker, the good shepherd in search of His lost, wandering sheep. If you’re a Christian, it’s not because you sought God; it’s because God sought you!
Jesus told his disciples in John 15:16, “ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you…” Paul wrote to the Colossians that they were, “God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved” (Col. 3:12), and Peter referred to believers as “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…” (1 Pet. 2:9)
As we begin this journey of understanding God’s plan of restoration, it’s important for us to remember that it all starts with God. God is the pursuer and He is pursuing you, fighting for you, empowering you, and restoring you because He loves you!
Today, thank God for what he is doing in your life, and commit to cooperate with Him over these next 21 days as He brings deeper, lasting restoration to your life.
PRAYER
Father in heaven, thank you for pursuing me. I know that long before I was thinking about you, you already loved me and had a plan for my life. I commit myself for these next 21 days to pursuing your restoration plan in my life. Have your way in my heart. Do what you want to do. Change in me what you need to change. Amen.
