Kingdom Rules (Part 2) - Disciple Makers Series #5Primjer
Our Attitude Toward Neighbors and Enemies
Love one another.
Love your neighbor.
Love your enemy.
How much more does God have to say?
Jesus loved His disciples to the very end.
Jesus loved the rich man who rejected Jesus’ call to follow Him.
Jesus loved the crowds – who followed Him for what they could get from Him.
Jesus asked God to forgive the people who killed Him.
It is too difficult for us. Let’s be honest. It takes more than we can do, we need to have God’s love filling us so it overflows to our world. Ask for it. Learn to receive it. Learn to let it overflow to those who do not deserve it.
It looks like a beautiful river when it comes out!
Time to pray
Father, This whole section is one that is hard to read. It just asks so much of us. Every time we read it, there are bigger mountains that are too great to climb. A few days ago I prayed for a heart to take on the impossible – I ask for it again. I refuse to look at it as impossible; I choose to see it as an opportunity to DO the impossible. You promise to walk with me through it. You promise to strengthen me to accomplish impossible things. So I am asking for impossible love. I ask for a river of this love. I ask for a river so powerful that it cannot help but touch my world. I ask this in Jesus’ name Amen.

Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the fifth of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Jesus describes His Kingdom rules. Jesus compares their understanding of Moses’ Law with true kingdom rules. Let them reveal God’s heart to us.
