Confident, Defiant, Reliant: 3 Keys to Tackling FearPrimjer
Confident
A thought leaped into my spirit when we arrived at our Airbnb in Guatemala City. “I am having shoulder surgery tomorrow.” Until then, it was simply an item to check off my to-do list.
Chatting with my husband after we met with the surgeon, I realized my heart was at peace. Although we were in a foreign country, facing a new challenge loaded with unknowns, God is our Refuge. He is a person and a place where we find rest from the worries of life.
Our Sovereign Lord tells us in Isaiah 28:16: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.”
We. Do. Not. Have. To. Panic. A confident mindset, with Christ as the Cornerstone, is an act of faith. Because of Him, there is no need to fear. We base our confidence in Him and on Him. He is able, solid, and a trustworthy foundation for our faith.
Psalms 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.”
What are you facing that seems impossible? No matter what unthinkable, catastrophic thing might come our way, God is where we take refuge. He is the source of our strength and a helper who promises to be available amid our troubling circumstances.
Application:
Reflect on what it means that God is your refuge, strength, and ever-present help in trouble. How can you deepen your confidence in God amid your current circumstances?
Prayer:
O God Most High, we are grateful for Your loving provision for the challenges in our lives. Teach us how to take refuge in You. Help us to feel Your strength coursing through our being. And thank You for the promise of being our helper in times of trouble. We build our faith and place our confidence in the solid Rock, Christ, our Savior, and our Lord.
