The Right Kind of ConfidentPrimjer

The Right Kind of Confident

Dan 4 od 5

There are two powerful forces vying for our trust: God and Satan.

God wants our trust. He deserves our trust. He is worthy of our trust. But God’s archenemy, Satan, wants to trick us into trusting everything and anything but God. Satan is the ultimate con artist. The reason sin exists in our world is because he pulled the wool over humanity’s eyes and won the confidence game. His strategy has not changed. He convinced Eve to doubt God and to put her faith in all the wrong things. And he wants us to fall into the same trap.

Satan peddles doubt so he can peddle confidence. He is a fearmonger who promotes uncertainty, insecurity, anxiety, and despair. Then, he promotes fragile, foolish confidence to address this wound of the soul.

He’s like the swindler who sells you a cheap bike with leaky tires and then sends a business partner to your door the next day to sell you a pump. At the same time, this master conniver engages in a relentless smear campaign of fake news and false advertising to undermine your trust in the competitor’s product. . . .

The Bible is adamant that only when we rely on God will we have strong, smart confidence. Trusting in anything else puts us in a fantasy world where our security is nothing more than a fragile illusion.

Prayer

Lord, please help me discern when Satan is trying to lure me away from the confidence I have through you. Please give me wisdom and strength so that I can keep my focus on you and your truth. Amen.
