I Come Running

From Genesis to Revelation, the grand narrative of Scripture is one of God’s unrelenting love and grace for His people. It’s a story of rescue and redemption, of His hand reaching out to save the broken, a message of hope and light in a very dark world. It’s the story of God’s pursuit of a relationship with you and me.

From the beginning, God has been lovingly chasing after you. He has never stopped fighting for your heart. Even when you were at your worst, when you’ve held Him at a distance or even run from Him – He has been pursuing you. Can you picture it? What comes to your mind as you imagine God fighting for your heart?

The Father has always longed for the day that you would run into His arms. And not just one time…but over and over again, continually running to the One who continually runs toward you with open arms.

We’re told in Romans 8 that nothing can separate us from His love when we place our faith in Jesus. Nothing you have done, nothing you are currently doing, and nothing you will do can remove His love for you. His love is enough to redeem it all and stronger than the shame you feel. God runs to you and opens His arms to embrace you, even when you are at your worst.

We can run to Him when we need His forgiveness, His comfort, and His love. We can run to Him when we are hurting, afraid, and in need. We can run to Him because He is our hope.

This kind of unconditional love, extended to us without ceasing, evokes a response within our hearts. So, do not delay. Do not wait. He promises to meet you. To run toward you with all the joy and love He possesses. To embrace you, over and over again. So, run. Run to Him today.

Reflect:

How does it feel to know that God is pursuing you?

What is holding you back from running to God right now?
