A Prayer Over the Minds of Survivors
“A stronghold is anything that exalts itself in our minds, pretending to be bigger or more powerful than our God. It steals much of our focus and causes us to feel overpowered. Controlled. Mastered. Whether the stronghold is an addiction, unforgiveness toward a person who has hurt us, or despair over a loss, it is something that consumes so much of our emotional and mental energy that abundant life is strangled—our callings remain largely unfulfilled and our believing lives are virtually ineffective.” – Beth Moore
Dear Father,
You have given us weapons with divine power to utterly destroy strongholds. We demolish arguments and every lie that sets itself up against the knowledge of you, and we take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor. 10:3-5) The devil is a liar. (John 8:44; 2 Cor. 4:4) In the name of Jesus I pray over every attacking lie and stronghold in the minds of survivors as they walk through the healing process. I pray against the stronghold of fear, unbelief, hatred, bitterness, anger, shame, destructive habits, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide.
In the name of Jesus I pray these precious ones will be transformed through the renewing of their minds so they are able to agree with your good and perfect will. (Rom. 12:2) Open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light. (Acts 26:18) Drive out their fears with your perfect love. (1 John 4:18) I pray they will place their trust fully in you. For the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Rom. 8:6) In Jesus’ name, amen.
