Disciplines Of The Kingdom - Disciple Makers Series #6નમૂનો
Is God going to take care of me or not?
The next week or so we will look at Jesus’ “do not” list. A “do not do” is as important as a “to do” list. In fact at times it is more important. So take this time to check your life and see if you are wasting time on these things.
Do not worry about the things you need to live.
When we look at life, there are several things that people focus on:
1) We focus on meeting our basic needs - survival
2) We focus on securing our future
3) We focus on making life more convenient and comfortable
4) We focus on doing things that have significance and meaning.
It is easy to forget to include God in all of this – or add Him on at the end of our thinking and planning. God’s promise is that He will take care of His children. He takes care of the birds – He will take care of us. So include this in our planning for this day.
This passage is also about worrying. Worrying does not add any time to our life – God is the one who adds time to life.
It does not add quality to our lives. No, worrying says “God, I am afraid that You will not do a good job of taking care of me.” So we replace God with someone/something else to help bring security. “Do not do” that.
Time to pray
Father, when I look back at my life, I can say with confidence that You took care of Becky, me and the children better than I could have done. Thank you so much! The challenge for me is looking forward to what is ahead. Sometimes I still struggle with a lack of confidence. I know Your promises. I need to hold on to them firmly and not let go. Today’s promise is one I need to remind myself about daily– You promise to take care of my life. So I start today by thanking You for giving me life, giving my life meaning and purpose, giving me hope for my family and their lives and giving me the promise that my life will finish only when You say it is done. I hold tight to that promise. In Jesus’ name Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to being Disciple Makers. This is the 6th of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Jesus describes the three disciplines of His Kingdom rules. The three disciplines of Giving, Praying and Fasting are laid out for us. We also begin the “Do’s and Don’ts” of Kingdom living.
