Hearing And Obeying - Disciple Makers Series #2નમૂનો
Do Not Rely on Your Heritage
First, John exposes the spiritual leaders who refuse to admit that they need to change. They feel the message of repentance is for the “bad” people – not them. Your heritage means nothing to God, your good works are not enough to save you, and your heart has to change. If not, then God’s warning is for us.
Second, the baptism showing repentance is not enough. We need a baptism of the Spirit of God. One that releases life. Jesus gives this. He releases life and cleans us up (the fire represents burning of the useless things in our lives).
Third, Jesus is the Judge. He separates those who have life and those who do not. He will do a perfect job of this. No one with life will be missed. No one without life will avoid His judgment.
Time to Pray
Father, John was a great messenger for Jesus. He spoke clearly, he spoke honestly and he spoke with authority as one sent by You. Father, I need to listen carefully today to what John said, because he speaks to me today as well. Am I ready for You when You show up in my life?
Also, I ask that You fill my day today with life – from Your Spirit. Today I want Your life to touch everything I do and say. So fill me with Your Spirit again that I will have life abundantly. In Jesus’ name Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the 2nd of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Hearing God speak or doing what God requires is more difficult than we realise – because life can be complicated. Watch how people do it.
