Devotions From City Harborનમૂનો
Devotional by Robby Earle
Sometimes the days go by, and I start to wonder why pain lives on, why we have to suffer. I don’t understand, and I might not ever.
There is certainly no lack of trouble in our world. It seems everywhere we look, every time we turn on the news, there is yet more evidence of the brokenness of this life. Every school shooting, every bombing, every cancer diagnosis is another crack in the fractured image of creation.
As followers of Jesus, we are not freed from these struggles. Perhaps the weight of them lies even heavier on our shoulders. We, who are charged to carry light into the darkness, are forced to watch as darkness seems to take so many.
But we do not despair. For we have a greater hope still.
"Neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38
Nothing can quench the fire of God’s love. Nothing catches Him by surprise. No tragedy is too great for His compassion. The hurt will be healed in Him. The weak will find strength in Him.
This world will put up a fight, but you’ve conquered it. Whatever comes in my life, Your love still wins.
So, It doesn’t matter if we're a father, a mother, husband, wife, doctor, soldier, factory worker, or a musician. It doesn’t matter if our story is squeaky clean or stained with mistakes. It doesn’t matter if we’re surrounded by family and friends or if we’re alone in a foreign land. It doesn’t even matter if we’re healthy or sick. When we are in Christ, we have a strong unshakeable foundation. We have already seen victory.
