Jesus, I Need You, Part 2નમૂનો
John the Baptist came to the people of God two thousand years ago proclaiming, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:2). He was pleading with them to listen, to turn from their ways, and to turn their hearts toward God in preparation of the coming of the kingdom of heaven. He was very bold and direct. People were drawn to him. He stirred up a passion in their hearts, calling them to clear the way for God – to get every obstacle out of the way – so the Lord could penetrate straight to their hearts.
Today God calls us to the same. He calls us to turn from self-absorption, self-sufficiency, and self-righteousness and lay everything at His feet. He wants us to have a relationship with Him that will transcend all relationships – a relationship that will establish the kingdom of heaven in our hearts. Will you heed His voice? Do you want to get “you” out of the way so that you can have more of Him? Will you make ready the way of the Lord? Will you make His path straight, clear to your heart?
PRAISE HIM
Begin our time with Him in prayer and praise. Pray through Psalm 19:1-2 and Psalm 19:7-10. Then offer the Lord praise.
ADMIT TO HIM
Ask the Lord to look closely at your heart to see the things that keep you from making the time to sit at His feet. Lord, what is it that is making my ears dull, my heart hard, or my eyes dim?
THANK HIM
Take time now to thank Him for His patience and willingness to love you even when it seems like everything else takes precedence over Him.
ASK HIM
Without holding back, ask Him now, in faith, for his help and for His wisdom. Lord Jesus, help me put aside those things that I am worried and upset about, so that I can pursue the only thing that is needed. Help me make my quiet time with you the most important priority of my day. Help me then to meditate on whatever you speak to me during that time and walk in it.
TAKE THE TRUTH TO HEART AND BRING THE TRUTH TO LIFE
Choose one truth from today and apply it to your heart. Take it with you throughout the day.
About this Plan
John the Baptist's call for repentance still speaks to us today! What does authentic repentance look like? This is part two of eight in the "Jesus, I Need You" series by Thistlebend. The plans in this series can be done in any order. See also "Jesus, I Need You" (companion prayer).
