Oman is a significant center for the spread and preservation of Islamic thought throughout the world. Since Islam was founded in the 7th century, very few witnesses spread the Gospel in Oman, and the Church was non-existent in the nation for nearly a thousand years.

Officially, the local population is 100% Muslim. Nevertheless, there are significant expatriate Christian communities. In recent years, these communities have become increasingly active in evangelism to their Muslim neighbors despite fear of government repression.

The first expression of the Arabic-speaking Omani church was formed in the 1950s. It was quickly stamped out because of persecution. However, since 2020, more Omanis have come to Christ than ever before, and there has been a revival in the Omani church for the last two years.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for the church in Oman to have Jesus’ hedge of protection surrounding them as they meet to be encouraged in His Word, fellowship, and the Spirit’s supernatural gifts.
• Ask the Lord for a new wave of Christian workers into the country after so many have left.
• Pray that the government surveillance, interrogations, and harassment would stop, and the Gospel will be shared through business, family connections, and open doors under the leading of the Holy Spirit.
• Pray for the expat churches to have a fresh sense of God’s powerful presence to step up and reach their Muslim neighbors despite potential government pushback.
• Pray for God to raise up and reveal key people inside and outside of Oman that He desires to use for His movement in the nation.

Dear Lord Jesus...I pray for the church in Oman that more will be added to their number every day and that their hearts will be set ablaze for You. Oh Lord, even in these times of sharp persecution, cause Your angels to surround and protect those reaching their neighbors for Your Kingdom through relationships, business, and family connections. Comfort any of Your children who are suffering for their faith, to see Your glory as You provide Your felt presence to bring encouragement and remind every believer that Your steadfast love never ceases Lamentations 3:22. Please strengthen the hearts of those who seek You and call on Your name and bring many more into Your family in the coming year. In Your Ineffable Name, King Jesus. Amen!
