DAY 39 OF 40

Day 39: Hope

Read

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. –1 Corinthians 2:9

Connect

Know this: Our God is a God who redeems.

Paul pointed this out in 1 Timothy 1:12–13"

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ, Paul said. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.

God mercifully pulled Paul out of his sinful past.

A man who passionately persecuted Christians became a follower of Jesus. A man who long had blasphemed the name of Christ started, instead, to praise Him.

Even after all Paul had done, there was still hope—it wasn’t too late for him.

It isn’t too late for you either.

Maybe you’ve done things you regret. But God is a forgiving God, and He still has a plan for you.

Or maybe you’ve been hurt by others, over and over, in intimate relationships. God is a healer, and He has a plan for you, too.

Whether you’ve been rejected or sad or bored or doubtful that your current season will ever end, you can still have hope.

Because you don’t even know yet all the good things God has planned for you.

But you already do know something—that our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! –2 Corinthians 4:17

Pray

Thank You so much, Lord, for whatever You have planned for my life. Scripture says no mind has even imagined what You have in store for us, and that brings me unending hope. I love You!

Reflect

What passages of Scripture bring you hope for your future? What words stand out in the passages and why?

About this Plan

Unhooked: Holy in a Hookup World

Take 40 days to look more deeply at the parts of your heart that need to be healed—so you can break the cycle of a broken heart and thrive in your singleness. While intimate relationships are designed to remind you of God’s love for you, living them out in a fallen world often results in wounds. This plan will help you move closer to Christ, in your pursuit of hope and healing.
