DAY 6 OF 8

Other officials

In soccer, in addition to the referee, there are various officials who work together to ensure that the game is conducted correctly. The linesmen, the fourth official and the additional area referees support the main referee in decisions, especially in more complex situations. These officials are similar to the elders in the church, who work alongside the pastor in leading and overseeing God’s people.

Linemen are essential in reporting infractions that the referee might not notice, such as offsides or fouls. Likewise, elders are called to watch over the spiritual life of the community, correcting and encouraging members. Their role is essential for fair and wise oversight.

The fourth official handles practical matters such as substitutions and respecting playing time. This role is reflected in the elders who help the pastor with organizational decisions, ensuring that everything is done in order and with decorum, as taught in the scriptures.

Additional area referees, positioned near the goals, help judge plays near the net. Similarly, elders in the church, with their spiritual experience, help discern more delicate situations and support the pastor in the daily challenges of Christian living.

Together, these officials ensure that the game is played fairly, just as elders work alongside the pastor in leading God’s people.

About this Plan

Easy Winning

Imagine soccer not just as a sport, but as a powerful metaphor for the Christian life. Every aspect of the game, the field, the rules, the challenges, and the ultimate goal, is reflected in our spiritual journey. As in a game, we face obstacles, work together toward a common goal, and learn to give our all to overcome difficulties. Every move matters, every choice brings us closer to victory. In this study, we will discover how the dynamics of the game can reveal profound lessons about faith and Christian life, knowing that the game is already life.
