Act on a Prompt from the Holy Spirit

“The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.”

One of the most powerful ways to share the Gospel is by responding to a prompt from the Holy Spirit. God often works through small nudges—an idea, a sense of urgency, or a gentle push to speak, act, or reach out to someone. These moments are opportunities to step into what God is already doing in someone’s life.

In Acts 8:29-30, the Holy Spirit prompts Philip to approach a chariot where an Ethiopian man is reading Scripture. Philip obeys, asking a simple question: “Do you understand what you are reading?” This act of obedience leads to a conversation about Jesus and the Ethiopian’s decision to be baptized. Philip’s willingness to act opened the door for a life-changing encounter with Christ.

The Holy Spirit’s prompts can take many forms. You might feel led to send an encouraging message, ask a friend how they’re doing, or share a Scripture that’s been on your heart. These actions might seem small, but they often arrive at just the right moment for the other person, demonstrating God’s care and presence.

If you feel unsure or hesitant, remember that the Holy Spirit equips you for what He asks you to do. Your job is to step out in faith, trusting that God will work through your obedience. Even if you don’t see immediate results, know that you’re part of God’s plan to sow seeds of faith.

Today, take time to quiet your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Be attentive to His voice throughout the day. When you sense a nudge, act on it, no matter how small it seems. Trust that God can use your obedience to reveal His love and truth to others.
