The Lords Prayer

DAY 2 OF 5

Surrendering to God’s Kingdom and Will
Matthew 6:10 - "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

In this verse, Jesus teaches us to align our prayers with God’s Ultimate Purpose: the advancement of His Kingdom and the fulfillment of His Will. This is a prayer of surrender, acknowledging that God’s Plans are far greater than our own and that His Rule should be evident in every corner of Creation, including our hearts.

To pray for God’s Kingdom to come is to long for His Righteous Reign to transform the world. It is a recognition that our broken systems and personal desires fall short of His Perfect Justice and Peace. This prayer also challenges us to participate in bringing His Kingdom to reality by living in ways that reflect His Love, Mercy, and Truth.

Praying for His Will to be done calls us to a posture of trust and obedience. It means laying aside our preferences and ambitions to embrace God’s Greater Plan, even when it is difficult or unclear. Just as God’s Will is perfectly fulfilled in Heaven, we ask for that same obedience and harmony to take root on Earth, starting with our own lives. In Proverbs 3:5-6, you can see the importance of trusting in the Lord completely and relying on His Guidance rather than your own understanding.

Take time today to examine your prayers. Are they primarily focused on your own desires, or do they reflect a longing for God’s Kingdom and Will to take precedence in your life and the world?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I long for Your Kingdom to come and Your Will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Help me to surrender my own plans and desires to Your Perfect Purposes. Teach me to trust in Your Wisdom and to live in ways that reflect Your Righteousness and Love. Let Your Kingdom grow in my heart and through my actions, bringing Glory to Your Name. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
