DAY 3 OF 5

Limits and Boundaries

Dear "Limitless" Woman,

I hate to interrupt your current Superwoman programming, BUT you do have limits. There are so many wonderful quotes out here about exceeding limits, the sky's the limit, etc. While those are meant to inspire and motivate you to keep going and not to let people or situations hold you back, they also do us a bit of harm when taken out of perspective.

"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer and sets me on my high places" (Psalm 18:32-33 NKJV).

We may be divinely equipped and supported by the Holy Spirit, but we ourselves are human. Our flesh gets tired and weak, and we can only do so much in our own strength. When God created us, He made us in His image; however, He did not make us to be at His level or to have deity characteristics. God has given us authority to have dominion over the earth, but we alone don't have to take on all of the tasks or control everything. It's okay to "let go and let God" or "get someone else to do it" sometimes.

Did you know that it is God's will for us to have limits and boundaries? In 2 Corinthians Chapter 10, Paul responds to criticism from those who stated that his letters show power and authority, but he, in person, is not so powerful. Paul sets out to defend his authority and credentials but makes sure not to boast to defend himself. Instead, he measures himself in the area God has assigned him to.

"We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us—a sphere which especially includes you. For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:13-14 NKJV).

How many times have we gone over and beyond to prove our worth? Sis, we don't have to do that. We don't have to do all the things and attain all the credentials to do what God has called us to do. Stay within your "sphere" or lane and keep your boundaries tight.

Reflection: What areas of your life could benefit from re-evaluating boundaries to prevent feeling overwhelmed?
