Trust in the Providence of God

As we continue our journey in developing a great attitude, it's essential to start with the foundation of trusting in the providence of God. For those who have accepted the gospel and entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ, sanctification is the next step—growing in holiness and Christ-likeness. A key element of this growth is cultivating a deep trust in God's providence, recognizing that He is sovereign over all things. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reassures us of God's care by pointing to the birds of the air, reminding us that if God provides for them, He will surely provide for us, His beloved children. Trusting in God's providence means believing that He is for us, that He has a plan for our lives, and that nothing happens outside of His loving control.

Understanding and embracing the doctrine of providence helps us maintain a great attitude, even in the face of life's challenges. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and He governs all things with a loving hand. Our birth, our circumstances, and our entire lives are not random; they are part of God's purposeful design. As Acts 17:24-28 tells us, God determined the exact times and places where we would live so that we might seek Him. This understanding gives us confidence that our times are in God's hands, and our purpose on earth is secure in Him. A great attitude, therefore, flows from the assurance that God is in control and that He is working all things for our good. It allows us to trust our Heavenly Father completely, knowing that He has a purpose for our lives, and that purpose will be fulfilled in His perfect timing.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your sovereign care and providence over our lives. Help us to trust deeply in Your plan, knowing that You work all things for our good. Strengthen our faith, especially in difficult times, so that our attitudes may reflect the confidence we have in You. Guide us to live each day with the assurance that our lives are held securely in Your hands. In Jesus' name, Amen.
