Reign

DAY 17 OF 30

In this world, there are lots of paths that seem like wisdom, but if you travel them for very long, you’ll find yourself in a ditch. That’s because true wisdom comes from God. His is the path of life. Goodness, wholeness, and joy come from following His ways. Even so, there are plenty of believers who struggle to make decisions, unsure of what choices to make. When it comes to the big questions of life, the challenge only grows. Thankfully, God has made us a wonderful promise: if we ask for wisdom, He will give it to us.

Think about that for a moment. Proverbs 8:11 says: “Wisdom is more precious than rubies.” And God is just giving it away to all who seek it. That’s because He’s a loving Father who does not want to see His children make foolish choices. So, He gives wisdom to all who ask. Scripture is filled with wisdom, so read it, memorize it, and let it renew your mind (see Romans 12:2). In worship, we fix our gaze on God—who He is and what He has done for us—and in doing so, we become more like Him: wise as can be. And as we walk with the Holy Spirit, our lives produce the fruit of “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23), all of which are part of a wise and god-honoring life. God’s not hiding wisdom from us—He wants us to come and get it!

About this Plan

Reign

History tells many stories of drama regarding kings and queens. This governmental system of power and our fascination with it has existed throughout history—even in Biblical times. In this devotional, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the reigns of the kings who ruled over God’s people and what we can learn from the lives and reigns of the people who led God’s people over the centuries.
