The Passion for Peace

The desire for peace must be within you to obtain it, like most anything else. You can desire something but not necessarily be passionate about it. I want and love to sing, but my passion for writing is more than singing, so you'll find me making time to write much quicker than trying to make time for singing. Because the passion is there to write, I will do whatever is necessary to make it happen as often as necessary. I safeguard and protect this passion that The Lord gave me to write.

How is your passion-gauge ranking for finding peace in Jesus? Do you value it in such a way that you are passionate about obtaining it daily? The Lord wants to use His Peace to strengthen your heart and your mind. (Phil 4:7, 2 Thess. 3:16)

And how are you at being a "Peace Maker?" We are called to it, ruling our hearts! He goes a step further in telling us to "be thankful." (Matt. 5:9, Col. 3:15)

Have you ever noticed that you cannot be in a state of thankfulness and also in a state of discord simultaneously? The brain is not wired to feel both thankfulness and anger at the same time. Anger is associated with the "fight or flight" response, while gratitude is linked to a more relaxed "rest and digest" state, making it difficult to experience both simultaneously.

We are to give thanks in ALL circumstances! It's not only the will of God, but it facilitates Christ's Peace! (1Thess. 5:18)

So not only should we be passionate about living in the perfect peace of Jesus, but we should also strive to be the peacemaker that He is with whom all we come in contact.

It is much easier to protect your peace when you are passionate about it, and that only comes from requesting the power of the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER:

God, I need to develop a more extraordinary passion for Your Peace; please give in abundance. Help me to learn of You and Your ways so profoundly that I display Your Peace toward others when I come in contact with them, and they feel as though they have been with You in my presence so that I may better look like You. In Jesus's Name, I pray, Amen.
