A Year in Luke/Actsનમૂનો
What does it mean to blaspheme the Holy Spirit? (Luke 12:10)
We must remember that God wants to forgive every single person on the planet. We are all made for a relationship with God. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but why not the Holy Spirit? Paul talks about the Spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:14). Specifically, our joining with Jesus in resurrection to be part of the kingdom of God in eternity. To speak against the Spirit is to deny the deposit of God within us, enabling us to live in the kingdom of God now and in the future.
If this passage has ever worried you, NT Wright’s words can bring some comfort:
“One sure thing about this saying is that if someone is anxious about having committed the sin against the Holy Spirit, their anxiety is a clear sign that they have not.” (NT Wright, p150, Luke for Everyone)
