In this world where we often find ourselves burdened with exhaustion, stress, and sorrow, it can indeed be challenging to hold on to the truth that Jesus brings life. Yet, His promise of resurrection gives us hope, even in the darkest moments, that death and decay are not the final word.

During this Advent season, it’s helpful to pause and note where you feel burdened, where you sense your joy or peace is fading. Where in your life are you laboring in ways that may be draining you rather than filling you with the life Christ offers?

What needs to be set right in your life?

How are you grieving any losses you’ve experienced over the last year?

Where could you serve those who are experiencing the injustices of life?

Activate

• Consider how the evergreen Christmas tree symbolizes eternal life. Spend some time in silence, contemplating the hope of resurrection and eternal life.
• Notice the ornaments on the tree. What stories do they tell of God’s goodness in your life?
• Notice when you start to experience the feelings of labor as you go about your season. Pray that the Lord would show you what is yours to carry or how you could partner with Him in making all things right.
• Give someone the gift of listening. Ask them questions about themselves and listen attentively to their answers. Part of making things right in the world includes loving others well.
• Create something that reminds you of someone that you have lost. Perhaps you could make a recipe or do an activity that reminds you of that person.
