In the Hospital? Comfort and Encouragement for Youનમૂનો
May the Psalms Be With You
Have you noticed that portions from the Psalms have featured in each day’s Scripture reading? Do you feel like you might miss their comfort as this Bible Plan draws to a close? Don’t worry! There are plenty more Psalms left for you to read and reflect on for as long as you’re hospitalized. And you can journey on with them as you get home and keep healing.
So many of the Psalms express deep, honest emotions that you might feel in your health crisis too. The writers were frequently in anguish, afraid, or anxious. And they prayed themselves back into hope as they looked up to their Maker. Or at least they sat with God in their grief and let Him hold them. The Psalms are a good place to camp out—it’s like a group of godly friends who keep pointing you in a fruitful direction.
As you prayerfully read and ponder today’s Psalms, you’ll be able to …
- Acknowledge your longings.
- Ask God questions about His comfort and timing.
- Remember what God is like: loving, compassionate, and gracious.
- Recall what God has already done for you.
- Ask God for mercy and strength.
- Find fresh delight in God’s Word.
- Pray the classic Psalm 23.
- Put your hope in God afresh.
A Place to Start in Prayer
Lord, be near me. Help me feel Your presence and comfort. I praise You that You abound in love and faithfulness to me. I’m reaching out for You—preserve my life and bring me safely home. Be with my family and comfort them too. I delight in Your Word as I spend time with You, listening to You. Even though I walk through the dark valley, I will not fear, for You are with me. Refresh my soul. Thank You for all the ways You have protected me and provided for me. Please keep it coming every day! In Jesus’ name, amen.
