Achieving Victory With Jesusનમૂનો
Spiritual food
“To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna” (Revelation 2:17)
Today’s key verse is from Jesus’ letter to the church of Pergamum. In this church, some people were practicing sexual immorality and eating food sacrificed to idols. Jesus warns strongly against that.
Against this background, He promises believers who remain faithful “some of the hidden manna”. Manna was a special food that God provided for the people of Israel during their journey in the desert. Six days a week, it lay on the ground around their tents, and everyone could pick up as much as his family needed. This food sustained and strengthened the Israelites during the years of their journey.
In a similar way, Jesus strengthens and sustains believers. He is “the living bread that came down from heaven” (John 6:51). He offers His followers something far better than food sacrificed to idols, namely Himself.
This manna is “hidden” from people who do not believe in Jesus. They don’t understand how a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ can strengthen believers. They don’t believe His promises of future glory. The joy of a life with God is hidden from them.
What “spiritual food” do you take in? Is your “diet” healthy or do you need to change it?
About this Plan
In various parts of the Bible, Jesus Christ draws our attention toward the blessings He has in store for believers who endure to the end. These promises are meant to encourage us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us”. For if we do so, we will achieve victory with Jesus!
