Day 4: Becoming One in Love
Deuteronomy 11:22-23: “If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you—to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him, and to hold fast to Him—then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you.”
In this verse, the phrase "hold fast" comes from the Hebrew word Dabaq, which means "to be joined together," to cling, stick, or stay close. It’s the same word used in Genesis 2:24: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
To truly love God and walk with Him, we must "hold fast" to Jesus. We are called to be Dabaq—joined together with Him—so we can love the Lord and walk in obedience. But how do we practically do this in our daily lives?
Walking in obedience and holding fast to Jesus means constantly staying close to Him through prayer, reading His Word, and making Him part of every decision. It’s about trusting Him, even when life gets tough, and aligning your actions with His will, even when it’s hard to understand
There was a time in my life when I felt overwhelmed by personal and family responsibilities. I had many decisions to make, and it was tempting to rely on my own understanding. But God kept reminding me to hold fast to Him. I began spending more time in prayer, asking Him for guidance. Slowly, I felt His peace and clarity. Instead of rushing into decisions, I learned to pause and seek His wisdom. Walking in obedience meant letting go of my need for control and trusting Him with the outcome.
