The Purpose of Christmasનમૂનો
This verse in John reminds us of an amazing thing about Jesus: the fact that He gave up His life for us. Though His death on the cross is something we remember at Easter, it’s something that was set in motion at Christmas. The ultimate act of love—the one Scripture reminds us is the greatest act of love possible—starts with Jesus’ arrival in the world at Christmas. It began with His birth and entrance into the world. And eventually, because of His death and resurrection, it’s what set us free.
As you think about what the purpose of Christmas is to you this year, don’t forget to focus on the end of the story too. Jesus’ birth is what we celebrate at Christmas, but that’s because it’s what set the stage for the rest of it to come. It’s what made His death on the cross an option. It’s what made His resurrection all the more important. And it’s what made our freedom from sin possible—not just in this life, but for eternity. Today, put this verse into action by doing one thing to serve a friend or family member. As you do, thank God for showing that same love to you by sending Jesus.
