God Is In Control
How rested are you? Are you sleeping well? Or does your mind race the moment your head hits the pillow and you stare at the ceiling?
Anxiety can be difficult like that. Our minds meditate on fear and uncertainty, and it robs us of real rest and refreshment. If you woke up tired today, I want to encourage you with a promise from Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 11, verse 28.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
What situation in your life right now is causing you the most anxiety? Maybe you're worried about your health or the health of a loved one? Maybe your kids are causing you to be anxious? It's almost impossible to truly rest when your mind is consumed by fear and worry.
But God is in control.
Jesus said that every hair on your head is numbered. God knows exactly what you're going through right now in this season. Every detail. He knows how long it will last, how hard it will get, and that's why Jesus is reaching out to you and saying, come to me and I will give you rest.
That's a promise. It's when you learn to trust God in the unknown that you actually find the peace and rest that your soul desperately needs. So let's inhale God's rest and exhale your burdens today. Are you ready for a breath prayer?
Take a deep breath and inhale:
"Jesus, I give you my burdens."
Exhale:
"And I receive your rest."
Inhale: "Jesus, I give you my burdens."
Exhale: And I receive your rest."
One more deep breath.
Inhale: "Jesus, I give you my burdens."
Exhale: And I receive your rest."
What do you need to release to Jesus this morning? Take a moment right now in prayer and name it. "Jesus, I release this situation to you." "I release this person to you." "Jesus, I release everyone and everything to you today." "I release the outcome of this test and I receive your rest." "Jesus, thank you for loving me, for carrying my burdens. I release this completely to your care today and rest in you. Amen."
Let’s take one more breath.
Inhale: "Jesus, I give you my burdens."
Exhale: And I receive your rest."
Friends, you don't have to carry the weight of the world. You don't have to control it all yourself today. May you breathe deep and know that you just made a trade. You are trading your worry for God's peace. Jesus is with you today.
God's got this.
