Confidence Is an Inside Jobનમૂનો
God’s Stand-Ins
In these devotionals, we’ve talked about the importance of having confidence and trusting yourself. But now hear me when I say this: believing that God, the all-powerful Creator of the universe, is on your side is one of the biggest boosts to our confidence.
We read in Isaiah that God is walking by our side every step of the way: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (41:10).
And since he’s not here to physically hold us up himself, God often sends people who do that for us.
There are going to be seasons that annoy you, and some that bring you to your knees. You’ll weather some of these seasons better than others. But where your tools are lacking, you can reach out and ask someone for help.
Those burdens you’ve been carrying for so long, by yourself, thinking you had to shoulder them alone? Someone else can carry them for a while. A friend. A Facebook group. A partner. A doctor. A therapist.
It takes a lot of trust—in ourselves, in someone else—to be open and vulnerable, to admit our faults and show the soft undersides of our bellies.
And vulnerable people? Those are the confident ones. The resilient ones. The ones who know that even if they get hurt while they’re being open with someone else, they are going to be okay. They’ll know what to do to care for themselves.
Allow yourself to trust in others…and to trust there will be better tomorrows.
Recall a season of struggle from your life so far. Can you think of one good thing someone did for you in that season? Did someone show up for you in an unexpected way?
