God gives grace generously. Don’t be afraid to come to Him.
Have you ever been too embarrassed to ask for help?
At one point in my life, I realized that I was teetering on structures of glass—gleaming and sparkly but easily shattered with a pebble. Even though I wanted everybody to think that I was doing great, inside I was crumbling.
It was so bad I couldn’t go to bed sober with my thoughts. If I did, all the garbage of my life flooded in, and I’d lie there thinking about all the people I’d hurt, all the lies that I’d told. All my cheating, and stealing, and addictions, and arrogance, and so much more—it would assail me. And I was held captive by that guilt.
At that time, I didn’t know I could bring all those things before God in prayer. I hadn’t yet discovered how good it is when you let God transform you.
Admitting our weakness is hard. We try to hide it from people—sometimes even ourselves—in order to avoid facing it.
But it doesn’t have to be that way with God. He already knows all your junk. And He loves you anyway.
The Bible says that Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses because He faced the same testings that we do!
Every temptation, challenge, and grief—Jesus has felt it. You can come to Him without embarrassment or fear.
Jesus is the perfect Savior.
He understands us as humans because He lived as a human!
You never have to be afraid to come before Jesus when you need help. You can run into His open arms—just like a child runs to a loving parent—knowing He will receive you with compassion.
Even though God already knows everything about you, He wants to get to know YOU through a genuine relationship. He wants you to come and talk with Him—to seek Him out, and to bring Him all your struggles.
You can talk to God about anything and everything. Go to Him boldly! You will find the forgiveness and the grace you need. He is the only one who can give it.
What have you been too embarrassed to talk about with God? Bring it to Him right now in prayer.
Lord, you know I’ve had some awful times. You know everything about me, even the things I’ve been embarrassed to discuss. I bring them to You right now. I need Your grace. Remove the shame that causes me to hide. Flood in with Your presence and change me, Lord. Jesus, I trust You.
Amen.
