Five Reasons Why God Tarriesનમૂનો
Waiting makes us ready to receive…
It is possible to try get things from God in the wrong way. There are many different ways portrayed on the Internet to 'get what you want', but its source is not the Holy Spirit. When we engage these methods, we open up our hearts and minds to deception, manipulation of people and greed.
Bob Mumford writes: "God wants us to receive what He is giving, instead of trying to take what He is not giving." That was the mistake Adam and Eve made; they began to take what God was not giving, instead of receiving what He offered.
How then should we as children of God position ourselves during times of 'waiting on God' in a way that is Biblical and acceptable to God?
Have you ever taken notice of how they were waiting in the upper room when the Holy Spirit fell in Acts 2?
One translation puts it like this: Acts 1:14 - All of these with their minds in full agreement devoted themselves steadfastly to prayer, [waiting together] …
They were praying and waiting. In the fullness of time, God visited them. When God chooses to visit you, you do not have to worry about performance to convince Him to come. You will know you have been visited. Try to set your mind on Him, and not on things that trouble you (Colossians 3:2)
BE HONEST...
>> Have you possibly been searching for worldly methods, powers or ideas to 'get what you want' while waiting on God to answer?
>> If so, bring it before God in prayer, and repent with a sincere heart. Ask for the Blood of Jesus to cleanse you from any possible ungodly attachments that may have come through such practices.
>> Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you wait on God, until His answer comes, even when it takes longer than you anticipated.
>> Invite a trusted friend(s) to pray with you for an answer to a delayed matter.
