Exiles: A Study in 1 Peter

DAY 25 OF 28

1 Peter 5:7 isn’t a verse that’s a magical recipe for your anxiety to end. Here’s the truth of the matter, there isn't a verse like that. However, this verse serves as an incredible reminder that we have a Heavenly Father who cares for us. In the grand scheme of things, our issues, our problems, our struggles, they are so small. But in the moment, they can absolutely feel like overwhelming monsters that we can’t get off our backs. And here’s the thing, God looks at you and He doesn’t see that anxiety first. He sees you. His creation. He sees a son or a daughter. Your problem or anxiety isn’t too big or too small for God. He wants us to bring that stuff to Him. Have you ever had someone like that in your life? You know, the type of person that you can just share any and everything with. After you do, it feels like you are a different person because of the weight lifted off your shoulders. God wants us to bring that to Him. Cast our anxieties on Him, share what is frustrating us, share what we are scared of. He doesn’t want us to be weighed down by the difficulties and worries of this life. He is in control and He’s more than able to handle our concerns or anxieties. God gives rest to those who cast their cares on Him. And why does He do this? Simply put, He loves us.

About this Plan

Exiles: A Study in 1 Peter

Exclusion can be wounding. This was not a foreign concept to the audience of 1 Peter. As followers of Jesus, this book reshapes our understanding of what it means to live from the overflow of hope in Christ as we live as exiled people in an increasingly hostile society.
