Developing Christian Characterનમૂનો
So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.
1 Peter 2:1 NET
- There are specific areas and places in our lives where we ought to express good character and conduct: in the midst of the saints (Ephesians 4:1-3 and 5:21): As saints, when we gather, we ought to be submitted to one another, honouring one another, loving one another and endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. As saints we must guide against things that can tear the brotherhood apart.
- In marriage: Ephesians 5:22-33 shows that a good marriage is fundamentally a choice to live right. The man must daily choose to love his wife and care for her absolutely, and the wife must daily choose to be submissive to her husband in the spirit of gentleness and meekness. Bad people make bad marriages and good people make good marriages, and this has nothing to do with God. A good man who has developed good character will be a good husband and a good woman who has developed good moral excellence will be a good wife.
- In the family life (Parents - children): Ephesians 6:1-4 tells us how children ought to behave towards their parents, and parents towards their children. Children should be marked by obedience. Discipline and submission must be learned in the home. Parents ought to be very considerate and patient towards their children. Impatient parents frustrate their children or lose them to the devil altogether.
- In the secular work place (Ephesians 6:5-9): The work place though secular, is a good ground to test the moral excellence of many believers. We ought to be diligent employees, serving our bosses in all integrity and diligence. Striving to serve them well, as though we were serving the Lord. Believers who are masters at their work place should be good and fair to those working under them.
I believe that if we express godly virtue in these areas, we will have a life that truly glorifies God.
