John Chapter 3
Title: New Identity, New Reality
Scripture: John 3:3
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
Thought:
In John 3, Jesus engages in a profound conversation with Nicodemus, revealing the necessity of being born again to enter the Kingdom of God. This chapter beautifully reveals the transformative power of spiritual rebirth and the unveiling of our true heavenly identity. Christ's straight-up statement, “You must be Born Again,” confronts Nicodemus but becomes comforting for us as we step into the reality of this eternal truth.
Our earthly birth gives us a sense of belonging to a particular nation, culture, and family, shaping our perspectives and experiences. However, Jesus emphasises the importance of a second birth, a spiritual rebirth that transcends earthly ties and connects us to heavenly realities—realities of His Presence, Power, and Promises.
A profound shift occurs within us when we are born of the Spirit. We are no longer defined solely by our earthly origins but by our spiritual heritage as children of God. This new birth awakens us to the eternal Kingdom, granting us a fresh perspective on life and a deeper understanding of our true identity in Christ.
Application:
As we embrace this spiritual rebirth, our awareness expands beyond the temporal to the eternal. We begin to see life through the lens of faith, hope, and love, recognising the hand of God at work in our lives. Our hearts are filled with a sense of belonging to a heavenly family united by a bond that surpasses all earthly distinctions.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of being born again. Help us to live each day anchored in our heavenly identity. May we walk in the light of our new birth, embracing the truth that we are children of God, called to live in the fullness of Your grace and truth. Amen.

About this Plan
At the beginning of Genesis 1, God spoke the word, “Let there be light,” and it overcame darkness. In Jesus, God sent the Word, Jesus, and He overcame the darkness helping us see God’s good plan for our lives. By reading one chapter from John’s gospel each day, with the accompanying devotion, you’ll see God’s nature in Jesus, God’s work through Jesus, and God’s plan for all to know Jesus.
