Jesus’ Love At Workનમૂનો
Speaking the Truth in Love
James and John asked Jesus to let them sit at his right and his left in his glory. Pretty bold, right? Jesus didn’t shy away from tough conversations. In fact, he addressed this one head on. He didn’t reprimand James and John for making such a bold request. He told them the truth, and it wasn’t an easy truth to hear. He told them that they would also experience persecution (drink the same cup). Yet even so, only God chooses those who will take the places of honor.
Love rejoices with the truth. We are called to speak the truth – even the hard truth, when necessary – from a place of love and a desire to build each other up. To be the light of Christ for one another, we need to love through the words we speak. That means giving one another honest feedback, even when it may be difficult. It means having tough conversations with the intent to help one another grow and achieve the best possible results. It also means we need to acknowledge people when they do well.
Are there words of truth you need to speak to someone at work? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words to speak and to prepare the heart of the person who needs to hear those words. Then watch growth happen for both of you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me the wisdom to recognize and speak the truth to others with love. Help me to keep my words in line with Your truth. Help me to maintain an attitude of love toward those I work with at all times. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
